Summer Fun In Barrington
Here we are, May about over, and summer set to begin! The kids will be out of school and begging for something to do. Of course, there’s always a good book to read, but since we had such a beastly winter, it might be good to get out and see some sights, right? In and around the Barringtonarea, you won’t lack for activities to keep the whole family happy.
There are summer camps of all kinds and for all ages available. If your kids are athletic, there are football and other sport camps. All sorts of activities are planned, from field trips, to art contests, to swim lessons. Here’s a link to a list of just some of the camps available. A Google search will turn up even more.
Maybe you want something in addition to just fun and games. You can have your kids learn a language over the summer. Here’s a link to the summer schedule of theLanguage Stars Barrington Center where they can learn Spanish, German, Italian, and more! The same goes for music. Of course, adults have things to do, too. If you’re home from college, and want a summer job, here’s a link to some positions you might want to try. Don’t wait too long! They’ll probably go fast! After a hard day’s work, you might want to take in a concert or something. Here’s a list of concerts coming this summer. Barrington doesn’t lack for other kinds of entertainment, either. Here are some of the artists coming to town.
Since we’re so close to the big city of Chicago, you could “toddle” on down and spend the day, the weekend, or longer, and still not see it all. Practically every neighborhood has an arts festival during the summer. Then there are the ethnic festivals, Greek, Thai, Hungarian, and more. The food, fun, shopping, and sights are fantastic! Here’s a link to a great list of Festivals in Chicago.
Everyone likes to soak up a little culture now and again, and Chicago’s just the place to do that. Here’s a link to Crain’s review of the cultural events coming this summer.
